Agapé Adventures is a respected not for profit organisation with it’s roots in Ireland and arms around the world!
We are a team of people who have many years experience of the volunteer, charity and expedition sectors and a passion to see both individuals & communities changing, growing & caring for each other as we work together. We believe that each person has unique talents, gifts and insights which can be used in amazing ways to support & inspire communities around the world & we love to see change in action. Our very name “Agapé” means unconditional love for others, and this is the foundation of what we aim to achieve – to see people giving & sharing their lives with each other in order to encourage & grow as individuals & as a global community.
Agapé Adventures is a signatory of the Comhlamh Code of Good Practice for Volunteer Sending Organisations and a signatory of the Dochas code of good conduct for the use of images.
Agapé Adventures was started by husband and wife team Seán and Rachael Murphy, based in the heart of Ireland's East Coast, with a desire to open up new opportunities for volunteering, adventure and community development.
Seán and Rachael had experienced first hand the benefits of volunteering, both as overseas volunteers themselves, and as part of organisations hosting and sending volunteers. These experiences created within them both a passion for enabling people from all walks of life, to take up the challenge and give time to others in need, travel the world, and explore new cultures.
They both have over 20 years professional experience in the voluntary / charity sector, as well as professional project management. United they bring a wealth of knowledge, and a high calibre of partner organisations with whom we now work.
The aim in starting Agapé was to give people of any age and background the opportunity to offer their time, energy and skills to projects around the world, whilst exploring new cultures, developing new skills and establishing lifelong friendships.
As well as our dedication to volunteers, we believe strongly in the work of our projects, and so 100% of our profits go back into supporting our partner projects in developing countries. We work together to help in practical ways and enabling their work to continue in a sustainable way.
